The pool: In intercontinental, the pool is super big,but it's very deep on one side ( even adults cant stand!) But there is a side for kids. The room: Honestly, the room is kinda small, but they have air fresheners in case you're hot, and the beds are cold and silky. Perfect for the hot summer of Egypt. The food/buffet: The food area/buffet isn't very big, and there aren't much option for food, but you can still order a few things if you feel like the food area/buffet isnt enough. The mall: The mall (city stars) is connected to the hotel, so you don't have to go to the mall from outside. The mall is pretty big, and they're food and cinemas are to die for. And you should really try dbox, because it makes you feel like the main character of the movie.plus, the food is super good and super fast (mostly the Italian restaurants).
IMPORTANT! We were having a great stay until we had a very unfortunate incident at the pool with some local ladies and the hotel staff. I was on a business meeting and my wife was having a drink at the swim up pool bar by herself (in normal western swimwear as there were no rules anywhere that stated women had to cover) when a group of ladies wearing burkinis started screaming in Arabic in a very unpleasant tone pointing at my wife. Apparently they complained to the bartenders that my wife was looking indecent (in a bikini inside the pool in an European hotel) and the bartender asked my wife if she’d like to move. My wife was humiliated and left very upset. We left a complaint but until today no one got back to us. It’s important to note that we’ve been living in a Muslim country for 3 years and never had such episodes. We will definitely not be going back to the intercontinental and advise all western women to cover up or they will be constantly stared at by the staff and frowned upon by Muslim families.
It's a five star luxury hotel of international standards. Rooms are spacious and well maintained. Toiletries and tea bags and mineral water bottles are replenished everyday. News paper is not supplied to the rooms. Restaurants are good. Food is tasty and delicious and difficult to choose from a large variety temptingly presented on the food counters. Each course of meal has a separate counter. So for a five course meal there are five counters and on each counter there are 10 - 15 varieties. The service is good. The waiters and waitresses are welcoming and courteous and polite. Wi-Fi is free. There's a mini fridge in the room stocked with soft drinks beer etc. The consumption of it on chargeable basis. The hotel is located in an upscale market place. There's a shopping mall next to the hotel. I don't mind coming here again.
